Prime Video will produce a prequel to ‘Legally Blonde,’ exploring Elle Woods’ high school years. Reese Witherspoon is excited.

The acclaimed movie ‘Legally Blonde’ will have a prequel that delves into the high school years of its iconic protagonist, Elle Woods. The series, tentatively titled ‘Elle,’ has been ordered by Prime Video.

The announcement was made during Amazon’s presentation to advertisers on Tuesday, where Reese Witherspoon, who portrayed Woods in the two ‘Legally Blonde’ movies, took the stage in costume (accompanied by Elle’s chihuahua, Bruiser) to share the news.

The series, created by Laura Kittrell, will follow Elle Woods during her high school years, exploring the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we met and loved in the first ‘Legally Blonde’ movie.

Reese Witherspoon expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I truly couldn’t be more excited for this series! Fans will get to see how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinctive personality and wit, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do. What could be better than that?”

The series will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with Laura Kittrell as showrunner and Reese Witherspoon as executive producer, alongside Lauren Neustadter from Hello Sunshine.

Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, stated, “One of the most quotable, iconic, and beloved characters rooted in the fabric of Hollywood history has to be Elle Woods, and we are honored to bring her origin story to our global Prime Video customers.”

With Reese Witherspoon’s vision and Hello Sunshine’s backing, supported by the award-winning voice of Laura Kittrell, this series promises to be an undisputed hit for fans.
